The International Academy of Collaborative Professionals’ 10th Anniversary Networking and Educational Forum: Celebrating Past, Present and Future
Minneapolis, Minnesota - October 22-25, 2009
The IACP Forum is the largest, most comprehensive interdisciplinary conference in the field of Collaborative Practice, and is an annual highlight for those who are involved with Collaborative Practice.
Catherine Conner, Gary Friedman, Jack Himmelstein and Katherine Miller will be presenting a Pre-Forum Institute on The Role of Law in Collaborative Practice.
Description:
Every Collaborative case must come to terms with the question of the place that law will have in the process. The challenge is to educate the parties about the law without the law taking over and the process becoming much like a traditional adversarial negotiation. In this program we will focus on how Collaborative professionals can work dynamically with the parties and each other:
to develop a shared understanding of the legal norms and the law’s underlying principles, and
to reach together for a shared creativity in supporting the parties in thinking more broadly and personally about their lives and the future.
